God uses everything to talk to me… and once in awhile I hear.

I was watching a reality show last night.  It was a dysfunctional business, like a lot of businesses.  Some employees were stealing, some hated being there at all, and others couldn’t make the tough decisions and people walked all over them.  At first I was angry.  How could they steal from their employer?  Why is this guy on a job he obviously hates?  Why is she such a wimp?  Why don’t they take any responsibility?

As the show went on, I began to look at my own life; I stole from employers, maybe not money, but I loafed a lot and didn’t give them my best, I bad mouthed places that I worked at to other employees and pretty much anyone that would listen (in very subtle ways of course), I was a boss and kept employees on that I know needed to go.  So I am every one of these people… we are the same.

The show’s mc made each person see that there was a higher purpose than their own selfish desires or feelings, it was about making it work…for everyone.  Each needed to step up and take responsibility for their actions… or get out.  It wasn’t about complying, it was about commitment and, dare I say ‘caring”.

I went to sleep last night and woke up in this morning, thinking;  why am I not living the life I want, why am I giving lousy excuses for not living my dream, why am I talking trash about other people, why am I allowing people to take up space in my life when I know they shouldn’t be there?

So here’s what I saw in the show and, one more time, in my own life.  First there is awareness, that I’m the problem.  Second I have to pause, and feel that, own it.  Third, I have to ask, ‘What is the right thing here?’ no bull.  Fourth, be honest with the answer I receive.  Fifth, I have to trust, by taking the action necessary toward what I received, no excuses.

These are universal principles that are always true, God keeps showing me them over and over again, in different ways, because I keep falling into the error of my old thinking.  It is only from our experience of what doesn’t work that most of become willing to look at what does.  (We learn best from our mistakes) In some areas we are in perfect alignment with these principles and other areas… we have a lot to learn.  It’s progress not perfection.

The overriding principle that allows for growth is; it’s not about us individually.  When we come from the group as a whole, whatever group that is, business, family, team, church, or whatever, it allows us to get out of our self-centeredness enough to receive inspiration from whatever is there when our egos are out of the picture.

It is living from our connection to the group that we gro-up!

When are you going to enjoy your life?

In the documentary film, ‘I am’ by director Tom Shadyac, he asks the question, “what is wrong with the world and how do we fix it?”  That is without doubt the most important question we can ask, but where and how do we start?

I have another question, “When am I going to be happy?”, actually that’s not the question, because I’m happy when I get what I think I want, but it never lasts.  The real question is “when am I going to be joyful”, full of joy?  And the answer is… when I re-cognize that ‘who’ “I am”, is already joyous!  Joy is not outside of me.  Love is not outside of me.  Passion is not outside of me.  Nothing that is real is outside of me.  My only problem is that I have failed to recognize these things, but that does not mean they are not there.  Well if that’s true then why don’t I feel it, you ask?

First we have to recognize the way we’re doing it doesn’t work.  It’s easy to see, the world as we made it, isn’t working.  We’re going to have to do things a little differently.  We’re going to need a method that works.

Where’d it all come from?

Look around at everything you see.  How did it all come about?  If you look, you’ll find that everything started with an idea.  The idea got developed in the mind of whatever created it.  And finally became something physical by some action in the material world.  Everything that ever came into existence came as a result of that formula, including us.  So there is an order form to creation.  If there is an order form to creation then there must be an order form for our lives as well… and it’s the same  form (creation in-form-a-tion).

What’s wrong with the world?

What’s wrong with the world?  We never developed our relationship to common sense.  What is our common sense you ask?  Our common sense is the “idea” instilled (inwardly stilled) in us, of who we are, our connection to our source.  We “thought” we could disconnect ourselves from that which created us and we made ourselves into mini-gods, each trying to run the world, according to our various beliefs.  Yet none of our imaginings has any effect on that which created us.

How do we learn?

As children, we learned that our resistance to gravity had no effect on it, but by co-operating with it, it allowed us to accomplish many things.  So too, we can learn that by co-operating with our creator’s idea of who we are, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.  (“experience is the best teacher”)

How do we change?

This is transformational living, living from a new perspective, and the old beliefs don’t die easy, so we need a system that we can utilize to get us back on track when we wander off in our imaginings.  We will need to …. take it A.P.A.R.T…. so it can come together.

A.P.A.R.T. is a method that can be used to co-operate with the system (order form) that is already present.  APART is an acronym for Awareness, Pause, Ask or acknowledge, Receive or remember, and Trust or take action.  This method can be used by anyone and will work every time, even if you don’t recognize or believe it.  Why, because these are universal truths, principles, that never fail, in the proper order.  But don’t take my word for it… try them out… try them repeatedly…. They cannot fail to connect you if you apply them in your life.  (I don’t have to believe in gravity to co-operate with it… but, it gets painful when I don’t… and my world expands when I do)

We facilitate workshops and presentations for groups or individuals to help you experience these truths.  Using metaphor, creativity, and group participation we can experience these truths in a group setting!  We were created as a group and so we gro-up together!

Pick a Path / Connect to the Group

What is the importance of a group and what is a group anyway?  When I asked those questions in meditation, or, I should say those questions were presented in meditation.  They really weren’t my questions, I’d never asked them before.  So why was I asking them now?  hmm….

A group, by definition is:  many components that make up a whole or many things gathered together for a purpose.  If something is missing from a group, it’s not the same group.  It’s not the way it was intended.  Intended by who; whoever created it!

In the case of a car, if the AC isn’t working is it still a car?  But it’s not the same car is it?  It’s not the way it was intended by whoever designed the car.  It still works great otherwise, but we always know, especially on a hot day, something is missing.  Most likely we will get it fixed as soon as possible because we want it to be as it was intended.

So awareness that something is missing is the first thing that happens when a group isn’t whole.  This is a principle found in all groups.  If a component of the group is missing, we intuitively know something is missing.  We may be able to get along without it, but on some level, we still know, something is missing.

The second thing that happens, when something is missing in a group is, the remaining components have to make up for the missing part and they try to do things they were never intended to do.  In the case of our car, with us in the car, we become part of the new group called the car and us.  With no AC, we put the windows down in the hope that the air will cool us off, maybe we adjust the vents, put the fan on, etc., but nothing really works and we miss the AC.

The third thing that happens when a group is not complete is we reach outside the group to try to find something to fill the hole.  We get a small fan and mount it on the dashboard, get some ice water or a cold drink, but nothing really works.  We will always know the AC is missing.  That’s a man-made group, a car.

What about naturally occurring groups?  Plants, animals, humans, these are not man-made groups, but they function the same.  Let’s just look at the human group;  many components that make up the group called humanity for the purpose of being human.  Humans are the only group that thinks it can separate itself from the group it belongs to.  We have black and white, christian and muslim, fat and skinny, old and young, you get the picture…  Every time we create an imaginary ‘sub’ group, we get further and further away from our connection to the group we belong to and intuitively we know something is missing.  We have gotten so dis-connected from our group, we have forgotten who we are, human beings.  In our attempt to find a solution outside the group, we grab for more of everything, in the hope we will fill the hole, we become human doings, not beings.

We are three-part beings, each of us. Spirit (the animating principle in living things), mind, and body, our group.  We have over-developed our minds and our bodies but we failed to develop our spiritual lives.  Intuitively we know something is missing in our group.  In our car example, we can see what is missing so we know what it is.  We can’t see with our eyes what our spirit looks like, yet it is the most important part, our animating principle.  We can’t really lose our connection, but we can, ‘think’ we can.

Isn’t it about time!  About time to get connected.  There are many paths we can utilize to connect with our spirit, many methods we can use, we don’t have to re-invent the wheel here!  What we do have to learn, however,  is when we go off in the wrong direction.  It’s not that difficult.  We get off-track when we use our minds to try to decide purpose, instead of our hearts.  We act on what we already know in our little pea brains instead of relying on our connection to our source, with infinite intelligence.  Our minds developed an ego that says “I’m all you got”, but the ego doesn’t know what it doesn’t know.

In the case of our car metaphor, don’t you think the guy that designed the car would be the best one to contact if the car isn’t operating properly?  He would at least know how to put you in touch with what to do or who to see to solve the problem.

Why is it that we don’t contact our creator and ask “hey, our group is screwed up, we forgot we are all equal parts of the one whole, humanity.  What can I do today, how can I co-operate with the other members of humanity?”  When we complain we become aware of the problem, (we need to stop all action, get quiet, ask, receive, and taking action on what we receive), when we co-operate the solution presents itself.

No matter how smart we think we are, the problem is in the mind, and you can’t fix the mind using the mind.  Whatever path you choose, look for similarities, what makes us alike, not the differences.  The differences are only there so we can see what needs to change in us.  We have to start with a new perception for any real change occur.

So… pick a path… your path… but ask your soul what the words mean for you… don’t question the answer you get… your soul knows what is right for you in each moment… don’t be afraid… you are not alone… and allow others their path… rejoice, together in the similarities and make the connection!

Soul-ution

The evolution of my soul.  I used to have a hard time with that word, evolution.  I thought it was in conflict with God somehow.  It actually isn’t in conflict with anything, actually it is in harmony with everything.  Science tells me that everything changes all the time.  Nothing I look at today is the same as it was yesterday.  Everything is evolving and growing.  If it’s true in one area of life, it’s true in all, so of course the re-cognition of my soul is evolving too.  Since my soul, or spirit, is directly linked to my creator, the expression of who I am, as intended by my creator, is constantly expanding, becoming more of what my creator’s intention for me is.

Whenever I cut off that link to my creator, I am limited to the information I already know and I immediately rely on my mind (the storage base of everything I’ve experienced, and the power I normally use) to make the choices for who I am and who I am becoming.  I attempt to use logic and intellect to solve my problems and sometimes, it works.  It’s kind of like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.  It seems to work for a while but with no inspiration, and the mind’s insistence that it is right, no new life can flow and eventually I outsmart myself and I’m left with a bigger problem, or I create a whole new problem down the road.  My mind is always looking for the bottom line, the finished product, complete, but life doesn’t work that way.  Like it or not, everything evolves or grows to the next higher level, or it dies out.

So I can’t figure this thing out is my first step.  I need to rely on this thing that I can’t see or touch, called my soul, my connection to my creator for inspiration.  Only my ego stands in the way(what I think I know).  I can see how powerful and arrogant it is by how unwilling, I often am, to even ask for inspiration, let alone, getting still, letting go of all my ‘great’ ideas, and waiting for what shows up.

My experience with doing this and then taking action on what I receive (over and over again) has enabled me to express myself in ways that I never dreamed I could, or even knew I wanted to, like this blog.  I read somewhere that “Deep down in every man woman and child is the fundamental idea of God… it is only there that it can be found”.  That ‘idea’ is growing in all of us, like it or not.  Its like I was asleep, using my mind as if it was, absolutely, who I am, the ultimate authority.  It’s time to wake up!  I find that if I co-operate and allow my soul to express itself as me, I live in a new and wonderful world, no matter what the seeming evidence to the contrary.

With all the problems we are now facing, our only real solution is the soul-ution.  Allow our soul to be the power for our lives and live from that place.  You already know this…  if you get quiet for a minute and stop listening to the noise in your head.  If you try it… the truth becomes Self-evident,.  If you start arguing with it… get quiet again… let go… and ask again… it is the simplest thing in the world, but its not easy.

When I question my minds authority by asking my soul for inspiration and watch what my mind tells me; I am then looking at the only thing that stands in the way of my seeing the truth.  And the truth is; God is expressing himself to me, through me, and as me all the time, I just wasn’t listening.  Each day (each moment) is a new beginning!

Another Way

As far back as I can remember, I had a feeling, no, a knowing, that we were supposed to do this thing together.  I couldn’t put the words together to describe it, it wasn’t really a thought, I just knew it and I couldn’t understand why you didn’t know it too.  Actually, I knew you knew, I just couldn’t get why we were all pretending not to know.  People would tell me, with, what I interpreted to be a look of disgust on their face, ‘you have to do it on your own’.  Once you do it, if I like what you’re doing, I’ll come on board.  In other words, prove to me you’ll get me what my mind tells me I need and then I’ll like you and follow you.

The problem with that thinking is; it’s the core of separation thinking.  It says we are not one; equal parts of the whole.  It says “I’ll be the judge of whether or not, you’re worthy of me connecting myself to who ‘I think’ you are”.  That is how I base my experience of life on separation instead of Oneness.  Some books call this the fall of man.  It was only a thought!  One thought leads to another and here we are.  Thank you Neale and CwG for raising the question, (paraphrasing) “If the initial thought was wrong, does that mean we have to continue?”

To begin from the new gospel  “ We are all One.  Ours is not a better way, ours is just another way.”, makes us all just individual manifestations, equal parts of the whole.  (I have to tell you that all these centuries of programming of guilt and fear, there is still a little shutter when I mention the word gospel and I don’t tie it into traditional religion) Then, in order to be complete, as we were intended to be, we need every one of us, and every one of us has a unique and equally important part.

Even knowing this, my first thought is, write this out and others will follow.  It’s so ingrained in me.  If I have an idea and you follow me, it’s the same thing we’re doing now, just a different leader.  We have to create this new culture together, at the same time, your piece and mine.  I can’t figure it out!  That’s old culture thinking.  I need to rely on my connection to my source, my soul, my higher power, my creator, my essence, my God, and you, for inspiration.  I can even do it as an experiment.  If we are all One, then what inspires you, must inspire me, in my own unique way.

What I have found to be true for me is something I call ‘taking it A.P.A.R.T. so it can come together’.  I have been drawn to talk about the order form in getting re-connected, it’s a work in progress:  It’s not a better way, it’s just another way…

A is awareness, it doesn’t come from the mind. Awareness of what?  it isn’t working, whatever I’m doing isn’t working, I feel it, I may not know what’s missing, but I don’t ‘feel’ right.  Mostly, it appears as some form of pain, but it’s not necessary.

P is pause.  Whatever I’m doing or thinking, I have to stop, completely, at least 30 seconds, go to the bathroom, shut the car off, just stop.  Listen to the sounds around me, really listen… or breathe deeply.

A is ask.  No belief is necessary, I just ask, is there another way to see this, what would love do now, how can I be of service here, or any other life affirming question, maybe even, the seven questions.  I find It helps if I ask for an open mind first.

R is receive.  I can’t ‘think’ about the answer.  If I find myself thinking, I just let go and go back to feeling, the chair I’m in, my breath entering my lungs, the feeling of light filling my body.  I just be as open as I can to receive what is already there.

T is take action, or try it out.  I only get to know this process works if I take action on what I receive.  What I receive usually doesn’t look like I ‘think’ it should.  Sometimes it seems ridiculous; get a cup of coffee, call so and so, go for a dip in the pool.  Often, my mind balks at what I receive.  When I take action anyway, repeatedly, I always get just what I need, provided I’ve done the first four parts of this process.  Often, I’m in awe, that it works every time, without fail.

My experience has shown me why this order form is necessary, at least for me, because, looking at it backwards;  there’s nothing new to take action on if I’m not open to receive it, I can’t receive anything new if I don’t ask, I won’t  ask if I don’t pause and realize I need to, and I won’t pause without the awareness (I’m in pain).

This is one way.  If we share with each other the ways through which we make the connection, we can’t help but become more of who and what we really are, One.

I’ve been thinking about our fortune, And I’ve decided that we’re really not to blame.   For the love that’s deep inside us now, Is still the same. And the sound we make together, Is the music to the story in your eyes.   It’s been shining down upon me now, I realize.

Get Yourself Connected (the solution)

We shake hands all the time.  What does the hand represent?  It is a group of five fingers making up a whole, hand.  We take it for granted and never realize how important it is, till we don’t have it anymore.  Groups are what our world is made of.  The dictionary defines a group as; many components gathered together for a purpose.

Using our hand as an example, what if we cut off a finger, is it still a group?  Yes, but it’s not the same group is it?  We can learn to adapt to the new group but we’ll always know something is missing, it isn’t complete.  It isn’t what it was intended to be.  Intended, by who?  By whoever created it!  Intuitively, we will always know something is missing.  The other fingers will have to over-develop to accomplish things they were never intended to do.  We often try to go outside the group, called our hand, to try to fill the hole.

We even go so far in over-developing the other fingers and using things outside the group that we convince ourselves, we never really needed that finger at all.  But we can see the missing finger so we are always reminded of what’s missing.

Each of us, individually, is a group.  We have three basic components; body, mind, spirit (that part that goes by many names, soul, energy, life force, etc).  Whatever you call that third part, it is the part that makes us alive.  It’s actually more, who we are, than the other two.  We develop our bodies, we work out, exercise, procreate, etc.  and we are always thinking, developing our minds, but what about the spiritual part?  You can’t physically see it, so it isn’t as easily recognized.

Take a larger group, the human group; many components that make up a whole for the purpose of being human.  Humans are the only group that has the ability to choose to believe they are separate from their group.  It’s not the truth but they can think it is, and so, forget who they are.

The problem is the solution.  We have failed to develop, talk about, or even acknowledge our spiritual life.  I’m not talking about religion.  I’m talking about who we really are, as three parts making up a whole.  We have lost our connection to who we are.  Intuitively we know this and so we try to use our intellect and our bodies to make up for it.  When that fails, we reach outside for more of everything, and it hasn’t worked.  More always seems like an answer but it’s an illusion.  A group can never be made complete from the outside.

We try to forget that we are all human beings, equal parts of the whole and the result is the world we presently live in.  The answer is always inside the group.  All great teachers have taught us to be still and know.  The answer is there all ready for us, one piece at a time.  It doesn’t come from thinking, economics, or politics, it comes from re-member-ing, becoming a member once again of the body of God ( CwG) as a human being, and acting accordingly.

Connecting to any group helps us connect to all groups.  It is our connection that brings us out of our self constructed prison of isolation we create by the mistaken belief in separation.  Talking with each other about our group connection re-minds us of who we really are…  equal parts of the Whole.
